A simple alternative to commercial dishwash bars - formulated with very mild ingredients including sodium carbonate, calcium carbonate, naturally occurring silicates, clay, and lemon extracts.

The unsung heroes of our kitchens, dishwash bars often come wrapped in low-medium grade plastic that has little value for recycling. These wrappers predominantly end up in a landfill or in open spaces around us. Also, the ingredients used to fight tough stains are often harsh, non-biodegradable and harmful to the water bodies they get washed into.

This little product will last you quite a while since even a small amount is highly potent; Place the bar in a tiny bit of water, just enough to wet the surface, so it forms a little liquid. Use that liquid on your scrub and apply it to wet utensils. Rinse well to remove any residue. Gentle on your hands, it fights all stains on steel, glass, aluminium and other utensils, leaving only a hint of lemon fragrance behind.

1. Why did my bar arrive cracked? Is it still usable?

The dishwash bars are made of clay, which tends to crack in transit. The cracks in the bar will not affect the way it cleanses the utensils.

2. How long will one bar last?

The lasting of the product depends on how much you use on an everyday basis. As the formula is very potent, one swipe is sufficient for 6 - 8 standard utensils. A typical 130gm bar can last for 6 weeks for a family of 3.

3. Can I leave the bar sitting in water?

Yes, if you like to. A small amount of water at the bottom creates diluted liquid. This liquid can help avoid overuse of the product (when compared to direct swipe). We would not recommend completely submerging the Bar in water, since they can feel a bit messy.

4. What is a lemon dishwash bar made of?

Sodium silicate, dolomite, china clay, calcite, feldspar, a coconut-oil-based surfactant and lemon essence. It's a non toxic and natural dishwash bar that you can opt for!

5. Which utensils can I use it on?

They can be used on steel, glass and aluminium, copper, and all other utensils.

6. Why is there no plastic wrapper?

Arani believes in reducing single use plastic waste as much as possible, which is why this bar was designed to not need plastic packaging at all. A simple newspaper wrap is enough, and it can be safely recycled or composted at your end.

For a family of 4, this means saving about 50 low grade plastic wrappers every year! These are typically small, low value and difficult to collect - hence they rarely get recycled. So this small swap is truly meaningful.

7. How is this different from your Lemon Dishwash grain-to-liquid?

The bar is a solid you rub onto a scrub. The grain-to-liquid version is a concentrate you mix with water into a liquid.
